ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS To be considered for admission all applicants must have: 1. An ACT score of 18. or A score of less than 18 will be considered if the applicant has completed 12 semester hours which must include completion of Anatomy and Physiology I and II with a grade of “C” or better. 2. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0. 3. Completed all biological science courses within five years of admission to the ADN program. 4. A minimum grade of "C" on all prerequisite and co-requisite courses in the ADN curriculum is required. 5. Attend one mandatory information session. The information session will be scheduled for the prospective student after other requirements have been met. (For complete information regarding admission to the ADN program prospective applicants should refer to the college catalog at http://www.eccc.edu/catalog/default.htm Application Process The applicant must apply for regular admission and be accepted by the College (see college catalog). Complete the following steps in the Office Of Admissions, Records, and Research at East Central Community College by April 15 of the year of application: 1. Applicants who have never attended East Central Community College must complete a college application 2. Official transcripts from high school and/ or other colleges previously attended or GED report must be submitted to the college.
The applicant who wishes to be considered for the Associate Degree Nursing program must complete steps 1 - 5. Applications may be received from the ADN office after January 1 each year. Application packet must be submitted to Associate Degree Nursing Program. East Central Community College, P. O. Box 129, Decatur, MS 39327 by April 15 of the year of application. The following documents must be submitted together: 1. Associate Degree Nursing Program application 2. Official ACT Score Report or documented score on transcript. 3. Applicants who have never attended East Central Community College must send a copy of transcripts from all colleges previously attended (if applicable) showing prerequisite requirement and any required course work completed. 4. If you have never attended college you must send a complete high school transcript or GED score report. High school seniors applying must send a copy of high school transcript reflecting grades through fall semester senior year. 5. If an applicant has been enrolled in another nursing program a letter from the program director/dean stating eligibility status must be submitted. Selection Notification Due to the large number of applicants, space is limited to the most qualified applicants. Selection is competitive. Candidates who have completed the biological science courses and the general academic courses will be considered first. Candidates chosen for the fall class will be notified by letter no later than May 30. Any non-nursing course may be taken prior to but not later than specified in the course sequence. A math score of 14 or less on the ACT will necessitate successful completion of MAT 1103 (nursing math) MAT 1203 (developmental math) or higher, concurrent with or prior to NUR 1118.
